Jodi Carreira says she is proud of how Israel performed at the World Youth Championships in Scotland.

Competing at the event for the first time, Israel suffered heavy defeats against Australia and Fiji, but Carreira believes the tournament is a big learning curve for her team.

The match against Fiji saw Israel achieve their goal of scoring 20 goals in an 82-20 defeat. Chaya Komar was Israel's top-scorer with 12 goals.

"It was a much-improved performance and the girls came back bouncing fresh and focused following a heavy defeat against Australia,” said Carreira, who coaches the Israel team.

"Both teams danced on the court and sang together at the end of the match."
