Aleh goes overboard

articlemain

Olympic champion Jo Aleh experienced heartbreak on the final day of the 470-class competition in Athens.

Lying second going into the closing medal race, Aleh and Olivia Powrie capsized at the European Championships and had to settle for bronze after a mistake at the first mark cost them dearly in an event which carried double points.

Austrian crew Lara Vadlau and Jolanta Ogar won gold while British duo Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark jumped a place to earn silver.
