AC Whetstone secured the Maccabi Junior League Under 14 title with their 11th consecutive win of the season.

They beat title rivals Hendon White 5 -2 at The Hive in Edgware. The victory takes Whetsone to 22 points from 11 games and means they cannot be caught at the top.

Whetstone opened with a 20 yard thunderbolt from David Clements.

Hendon equalised minutes later with a scrambled finish from a corner but Phillipe Auret restored AC Whetstone's lead when he coolly rounded the keeper.

Whetstone made it 3-1 in the early minutes of the second half through a David Clements header and Sam Grossman increased the margin to three goals with a right-foot curler.

Victory for Whetstone seemed assured, however Rafi Terepolski's finish from an corner made it 4-2.

Sam Grossman ensured that there would be no comeback by converting Whetsone's fifth.

Managers Anthony Cohen and Clive Nathan, AC Whetsone celebrated at full time with a champagne soaking and plenty of singing.

Nathan said: “The boys have been magnificent all season and we are so proud of them.

“Many of them have been at the club since the age of 6 and it is fantastic to see them win their first piece of silverware.”
