George Goldberg, 12, scored his 100th goal in 110 league and cup appearances for HMH Purple as HMH Purple beat HISHU 4-3 in the MGBPFL Under 13 Division One.
The win helped HMH maintain their 100 per cent. The Highgate club were always ahead and had the vast majority of possession. HMH’s scorers were Adam Ellis (2) and Aaron Benjamin.
However the day belonged to HMH club captain Goldberg. Simon Alberga, who managed HMH for five years, said: “George was the outstanding player for HMH Purple during my tenure. He was the first name on the teamsheet, the top goal-scorer each season, a powerful and skilful runner with good vision, strong in the air, the only kid in Jewish football that I have seen who could use both feet equally well. He scored some memorable goals. He was our Ronaldo.”
