‘Our start doesn’t tell full story,’ says Gastwirth

Michael Gastwirth expressed his relief at Reich finally finding their feet — and their top form.

Reich 5
Maccabi Manchester Blue 1

After a poor start to the MJSL season, Reich produced a fine display against a depleted Maccabi Manchester Blue.

Reich’s director of football Gastwirth said: “It was great performance across the pitch and a great result which was thoroughly deserved.

“As a club we needed to get points on the board immediately and get the players enjoying their football.

“Nobody wants to get beaten heavily every week. I feel my points made to the players over the last few weeks were finally being taken on board.”

Although the scores were level at the break through goals from Reich’s Dovi Klyne and Nick Yardley for the visitors, Reich took control against a tiring defence.

Yoni Shadmi (2), Andy Shaffer and Rafi Klyne all weighed in to complete the emphatic win.

Gastwirth commented: “We were able to bring some of last year’s squad back into the mix, which also helped. That allowed some of the new players to gain experience from the supporting cast.”

“Our start doesn’t tell the full story of the progress this team can make. I’m confident we can push on from here to climb further up the table.”

Maccabi Manchester Yellow     0
Haroldeans  5

Max Barnett maintained his red-hot scoring sequence to fire Haroldeans back to the top of the MJSL.

Barnett’s brace coupled with goals from Taylor Moss and Adam Shiffman saw the defending champions ease home.

Haroldeans boss Mike Bloomberg said: “It was another professional performance from start to finish.

“We were clinical in front of goal but Jared Clein’s penalty save while we were leading 1-0 was crucial.”
