HERTS COUNTY CUP

MACCABI LONDON LIONS 3 DUN COW 6

Lions boss Jacobs described Dun Cow as "a very decent," but he believes "the hosts have only to look at themselves as this was a game that could so easily have been won".

Defensively, as a team, the Lions just weren’t at the races. They gifted the the cup holders three first-half goals. And when equally presentable chances at the other end weren’t converted the Lions were deflated.

The home side "responded superbly after the break," reducing the deficit when Lee Cash won and then converted a penalty. And when Daniel Stanton Let fly from 25 yards to find the far corner Dun Cow were rocking and a comeback looked on the cards.

However, another error gifted the visitors another goal to give them the cushion almost immediately. Lions kept pressing and Craig Pearl smashed home to make it 4-3 after a scramble and again the hosts pushed and looked the more likely to score next.

But Dun Cow's front pairing were just too good to keep giving chances to, and when another long ball was allowed to bounce up and over, a delicate lob sealed the victory, icing added in the dying seconds as Lions went for all-out attack, trying to find two goals.

LIONS: Bradley Lee, Jon Rayner, Tony Gold, Paul Lenchner, Pete Lazard, Craig Pearl, Alex Levack, Daniel Stanton, Bradley Lazarus, Lee Cash, Saul Conway. Subs: Alex Norman, Hadley Silver, Max Radford
