London Lions hit for six by Winslow

Andy Landesberg reflected on a bad day at the office as London Lions suffered a heavy defeat at Winslow to end their long-standing winning streak.

WINSLOW UNITED 6 LONDON LIONS 1

All seemed to be calm after a good start but two bizarre incidents sent Lions behind at halftime. Firstly, goalkeeper James Harpin and defender Nick Landesberg got in a tangle to allow Winslow a simple opportunity to open the score.

Soon after Winslow were awarded a free-kick a yard from goal after a sliced clearance was adjudged to have been a back pass caught by Harpin; Winslow took full advantage to make it 2-0.

Lions still could have scored a few themselves before the break but the Winslow goal lived a charmed life as Lions wasted their opportunities.

The visitors regrouped at the break and came out ready to mount a comeback as Mitch Hahn halved the deficit within minutes of the restart.

But this proved a false dawn as again Lions allowed Winslow to add further goals without reply which despite Lions missing even more opportunities manager Andy Landesberg put down to "one of those days".

Lions will be looking to return to winning ways, with fellow promotion challengers Enfield Borough due to visit the Lane on Saturday.

LIONS: James Harpin, Jake Rinsler, Adam Myeroff, Nick Landesberg, Adam Lipman, Jordan Marks, Max Kyte, Austin Lipman, Mitch Hahn, Adam Bolle, Adam Burchell. Subs: Charlie Rubin, Tyler Smith

SCORER: Hahn
