L'Equipe triumph a fairytale success

Grown men on their knees crying … and I’m not talking about the Emirates on Tuesday night. This was Sunday morning football at its finest.

L’Equipe’s success story is a modern day fairytale. Their brand of football may not please the purists but they play to their strengths and their opponents were unable to deal with their numerous threats.

The Maccabi League does not have many clubs where players have played for 10 years. The fact L’Equipe do is testament to the running and spirit of the club and they deserve all the success they get.

This is undoubtedly a victory for all single clubs in an era where the MGBSFL is dominated by multi-team clubs.

* Sarratt’s late withdrawal from their scheduled match against London Lions means the Rowley Lane club now require eight points from promotion and a Herts County title. The strugglers must have been running scared by a free-scoring Lions team who have registered 24 goals in their last three matches.

Sarratt went down 2-0 to Lions in September when Charlie Kasler and goal machine James Gershfield were the marksmen.
