After more than 30 years of use, the Brady Maccabi Youth & Community Centre in Manor Park Crescent, Edgware, Middlesex, is now being sold.

During this time, the building has echoed with the fun and laughter of generations of boys and girls enjoying the extensive benefits of the club. These included a well-equipped sports hall, theatre and auditorium, cafeteria and kitchen, offices and meeting rooms for educational, sport and social events.

The Maccabi Foundation says that under-utilisation of the community centre, because of families moving away from the area, led to a decision to sell it.

“We tried for a number of years to minimise the effects of these changes, especially by encouraging other groups to take advantage of what the building offers,” says a representative of the Maccabi Foundation. “Our last tenant was the Masorti Synagogue, which has now fortunately found another location in Edgware. In conjunction with the Brady trustees, we very much regret that we have recently closed the building, but hope that what we have established will provide a long-term future home for another community-focused organisation.”

Brady Maccabi is still going strong, with its emphasis on youth and community. Its most visible activities are centred on football, with 14 Brady Maccabi teams playing.

The spokesperson adds: “The Maccabi Movement is committed to providing the community with resources to promote Jewish continuity and the funds from the sale of the building will be instrumental in helping us to continue to achieve our aims.”

The building has Class D2 usage and is approximately 15,500 sq ft (1,440 sq m). A caretaker’s flat is included. The site overall is 0.36 acres (0.15 ha), with the freehold on offer at £2.5 million, through sole agent Preston Bennett.
