Israeli police arrested four men last night in connection with a stone-throwing attack in Jerusalem that left a toddler injured .

The suspects, Arab youths aged between 15 and 20, are believed to have hurled stones at a car on Thursday evening in the Armon Hanatziv area of Jerusalem.

Two-year-old Abigail Ben-Zion, who was travelling inside the car with her family at the time, suffered head injuries. According to paramedics who took her to Hadassah University Medical Centre, she was not fully conscious at the scene of the incident, but her condition later improved.

Following the attack, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said: “It must be made clear to everyone that a stone is a weapon for all intents and purposes and it must be viewed this way.”

This incident comes only a few weeks after a young Israeli soldier was killed by a Palestinian teenager while sitting on a bus at the central bus station in Afula.

IDF soldier Eden Atias, aged 19, was stabbed repeatedly in the neck while he was sleeping and later died in hospital.
