A Swedish court has found three men guilty of attempted arson of a synagogue.

Two Palestinians and one Syrian were sentenced to jail on Monday for attacking the synagogue in Gothenburg with Molotov cocktails last year.

Gothenberg District Court sentenced the 19-year-old Syrian to one year and three months in prison, while the two Palestinians, aged 24 and 22, received two years.

The men were part of a group who threw firebombs at the shul after a march in the city against the United States’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

A group of Jewish teenagers hid in the building as it was attacked by the gang of men.

It is not thought anyone was injured in the attack, and the synagogue avoided major damage.
