Ten Israeli soldiers killed as Haniyeh’s house hit

articlemain

Ten IDF soldiers were killed last night in Israel’s ongoing operation to eradicate Hamas’s terror infrastructure.

Four were hit by a mortar fired from Gaza and a further five were killed in a firefight with Hamas militants who emerged from a tunnel near Kibbutz Nahal Oz. The tenth died in a clash in southern Gaza.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the home of senior Hamas official Ismail Haniyeh, in the Shati refugee camp, was destroyed.

It is believed Mr Haniyeh has been hiding underground during the fighting in Gaza, and was not at home at the time.

Islamic Jihad announced that the commander of its forces in Rafah was also killed by Israel overnight.
The circumstances of Ahmed Najam Abu Hamda’s death are not yet clear, however.

According to Gaza sources, 32 Palestinians were killed overnight in Israeli airstrikes that hit 150 targets in the Strip.
