Barbra Streisand has given Jennifer Aniston
her blessing for a photo shoot which paid homage to the Jewish star as she was in the film Funny Girl.

Ms Aniston was pictured with big hair, thick black eyeliner and neatly manicured nails in a series of photographs that directly channeled the 1968 film.

The images appear in the September edition of US Harper's Bazaar magazine.

Ms Streisand, who won an Oscar for her performance as comedian Fanny Brice, wrote on her website: “I think she did a wonderful job.

"I was very flattered that [she] chose to interpret my style.”

However, the stage and screen veteran, 68, added: "If only she had a bump on her nose."

Ms Aniston, 41, said: "I've loved her since I was a kid. She was wonderful, and you could talk to her about anything."

Earlier this year Glee star Lea Michele paid tribute to Ms Streisand with a performance of the Funny Girl song 'Don't Rain on my Parade' at the Tony Awards.
