British police have arrived in Israel to interview the British citizens whose passports were used in the assassination of a senior Hamas militant in Dubai.

Two senior police officers are set to meet the six British citizens, all of whom made hold dual British and Israeli nationality, whose passports were used by the assassins who killed Hamas’s Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman told European foreign ministers in Brussels last week that there was no evidence that Israel was involved in the murder.

But Dubai police claim they are 99 per cent certain the murder was the work of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, and now say they have DNA evidence from the assassins.

The team in Dubai is believed to have used as many as 26 fake passports. They apparently used a quick-acting muscle relaxant to help make the death seem "natural".

Dubai police chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim has said the country will discriminate against Israelis and dual-citizens attempting to enter the United Arab Emirates.

He said: “We know Israelis from their accents but when they used European passports to come here, we accepted that and we treated them as Europeans.

“But after this day, if they have dual citizenship, we will exert extreme caution.”
