Odd Couple star Jack Klugman dies

articlemain

One of the actors who made up the television series The Odd Couple has died at the age of 90.

Jack Klugman, who was also known for his appearance in Quincy, ME, was at home in Los Angeles when he died on Monday.

His son, Adam, said the actor died very suddenly and peacefully after his health had declined.

Born in Philadelphia to Russian Jewish immigrants, he later served in the US army during the Second World War.

The Odd Couple, which also starred Tony Randall, was based on Neil Simon's play about two rather unlikely flatmates – one tidy and clean, the other rather more relaxed about such things - enjoyed a five year run and remains popular with audiences.
