Murder on the dance floor? The Canadian electro and progressive house musician, Joel Zimmerman, who goes under the stage name of "Deadmaus", was recently the target of intemperate abuse online by fellow musician, "A Guy Called Gerald" (aka Gerald Simpson).

It appears that Mr Simpson was enraged by Mr Zimmerman's comments in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, directed against DJs Skrillex and David Guetta, who Mr Zimmerman described as "button-pushers".

This clearly irked the Manchester-based pioneering dance veteran, who reacted to Mr Zimmerman's comments on his blog with a fairly incoherent diatribe, which appears to have more to do with Mr Zimmerman's religious background than his musical aptitude.

He wrote: "The only button you and people like you are interested in pushing is a nuke for the Palestinians. You come into our system that we have nurtured for the last 25 years, trick hardworking people into giving you their money, con honest promoters, take large sums of money out of the system and then spit back into our faces that YOU are tricking everyone (..) You greedy rat head f***."

Deadmaus, however, announced that such an "ignorant" individual was simply "not worth the time of day". Mr Simpson, he advised, should simply "go back to being no longer relevant".
