More Golden Globe success for Homeland

Television series Homeland, based on the Israeli television show Hatufim, has had another successful year at the Golden Globes, winning Best Television Drama.

At the awards on Sunday night, Homeland’s Damian Lewis and Claire Danes were honoured with the Best Actor and Best Actress awards for their roles in the series.

While Steven Spielberg missed out on the Best Director accolade for Lincoln, Daniel Day Lewis won Best Actor in a Drama for his performance in the film. The actor is the favourite to win in the same category at the Academy Awards.

Lena Dunham received the award for Best Series, Musical or Comedy for her popular television show Girls which is now in its second series. The Jewish writer/actress also won Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her portrayal as a 20-something writer in New York.

The winners of the Palm Springs International Film Festival were also announced on Sunday. Israeli drama, Fill the Void, directed by Rama Burshtein, won the FIPRESCI Prize for foreign language film of the year. The film tells the story of an 18-year-old girl in a Chasidic community.
