Madonna sued by National Front's Marine Le Pen

articlemain

The Queen of Pop is facing legal action from France's far right leader over a controversial stunt in her current world tour.

Madonna has staged a scene in her current MDNA show in which a photograph of Marine Le Pen, the National Front leader, is shown with a swastika superimposed over it/

Others who come in for the same treatment include the pope, Sarah Palin and Hitler.

On Saturday evening the montage was shown during Madonna's concert in Paris, prompting representatives for the National Front to announce it would be suing for public insult.

Florian Phillippot, the National Front's vice president, said the party could not accept "this insulting connection".

"Marine Le Pen is defending her honour, but also that of party members and supporters and the millions of Front National voters."

Ms le Pen, who took over the party from her father, has fought to move the National Front away from its allegedly extremist and antisemitic past. She came third in the French presidential elections earlier this year.

Madonna is set to perform in Nice next month.
