Israelis get global High Holy terror warning

articlemain

Israel has warned its citizens across the world that there are “concrete” indications they will be targeted by terrorists in the coming weeks.

The government’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau has warned Israelis and Jews to stay away from dozens of countries in the run-up to the High Holy Days, calling it “a favoured period” for organisations such as al-Qaeda to strike.

The annual report also noted that Hizbollah and Iran are continuing their “global terror campaign” against Jewish and Israeli targets, still seeking revenge for the 2008 assassination of Hizbollah terror chief Imad Mughniyeh in what was allegedly an Israeli operation.

The Bureau banned Israelis from visiting countries such as Algeria, Djibouti, Mauritania, Libya, Sudan, Somalia and Tunisia, cautioning Israelis and Jews staying in the area to leave as soon as possible.

Civilians were also advised to avoid travelling to nations including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Malaysia and Nigeria.

They stated that extra precautions should be taken by travellers worldwide, with unexpected meetings and regular travel routes to be avoided.
