Israeli jets hit a Hizbollah stronghold on the Lebanon-Syria border last night, according to reports.

The air strike allegedly killed several Hizbollah operatives, as well as a number of civilians, in the Nabi Sheet area.

A Lebanese security source told AFP: “Two Israeli raids hit a Hizbollah target on the border of Lebanon and Syria.”

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the target was a Hizbollah “missile base”.

The IDF would not comment on the reports, but said: “We have known for some time that there are efforts to move serious weaponry from Syria to Lebanon.”

The strikes reportedly targeted a weapons shipment meant for Hizbollah.

People living on the Lebanese side of the border told AFP bombs lit up the sky ahead of the raids, which shook their houses.

The Hizbollah television station Al-Manar said there had been “no raid on Lebanese territory”.

A Lebanese army spokesman said they had seen no indication of airstrikes in the area, but were investigating the reports.
