Israeli activist Ben Gvir sues IDF Radio

articlemain

Israeli right wing activist Itamar Ben Gvir has filed a libel suit against IDF Radio, demanding an apology and $400,000 in compensation for the failure to allow him to respond in a debate with Dalia Rabin, daughter of late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

Ms Rabin was hosted on the station following a heated exchange of words between Mr Ben Gvir and Ms Rabin’s daughter, Noa Rothman, on Tuesday.

The confrontation took place as Ms Rothman was leaving an event commemorating her grandfather at the Rabin Centre in Ramat Aviv, The Times of Israel reported. In one part of the exchange Ms Rothman asked if Mr Ben Gvir had done any soul-searching over his role in the rise of extremism prior to Mr Rabin’s assassination. Mr Ben Gvir retorted asking if she had done any soul-searching over Mr Rabin’s policies.

Following this confrontation, Dalia Rabin appeared on IDF Radio on Thursday where she accused Mr Ben Gvir of incitement. A statement was read on behalf of the activist rebutting the claims, but he was reportedly prevented from going on air himself.
