Hezbollah plans a “calculated strike” against targets within Israel as retaliation for two IDF drones that crashed in Lebanon over the weekend.

Reuters quoted sources as saying a reponse “is being arranged in a way which wouldn’t lead to a war”.

“The direction now is for a calculated strike, but how matters develop, that’s another thing,” one source close to the group told the news agency.

It came as the IDF placed movement restrictions on the roads close to Israel’s border with Lebanon on Tuesday over concerns of a retaliatory strike.

The drones crashed in Beirut’s southern suburbs early on Sunday in an area that is home to many Hezbollah supporters.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said the aircraft had come from Israel and were carrying explosives. He described it as the first attack since the 2006 war between Israel and Lebanon.

“I say to the Israeli army on the border from tonight, stand guard. Wait for us one, two, three, four days,” he said in a speech on Sunday.

But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded: “I heard what Nasrallah said. I suggest to Nasrallah to calm down. He knows well that Israel knows how to defend itself and to pay back its enemies.”
