Guilty: Rabbi who groped soldier on a plane

articlemain

A rabbi has been found guilty of groping a female passenger on a flight to New York.

Rabbi Gavriel Bidany, 47, could face six months behind bars after he was convicted of assaulting a 23-year old female Israeli soldier on a Delta airlines flight in March.

The rabbi, who claimed he was asleep during the incident, lifted the woman's blanket and touched her inappropriately.

A magistrate at Brooklyn Federal Court said the woman's account of the assault was "compelling and wholly believable".

Rabbi Bidany, a father of 11, will be sentenced next week.
