Grammy for Jewish Sesame Street singer

articlemain

A Jewish singer and songwriter who specialises in making music for children walked away with one of the few Grammy awards not snapped up by Adele at Sunday's ceremony.

Barry Louis Polisar's song Town of Round was one of the tracks on a compilation called All About Bullies Big and Small.

The album won the award for Best Children's Recording.

Mr Polisar, who is also known for his song All I Want is You, is no stranger to Grammy success. The track was used on the soundtrack to the film Juno, which won an award in 2009.

Mr Polisar, who has written songs for Sesame Street, writes books for children and is also the author of a Haggadah used by Jewish student groups in the US, said he was working out how to celebrate his Grammy win, having "spent my entire musical career ignoring the conventional music business and the award system that usually rewards industry stars and players".
