Actor Charlie Sheen has officially lost his primetime television role after producers announced that he had been fired from the sitcom, Two and a Half Men, for good.

The decision comes after the series was put on hold in the wake of Mr Sheen’s increasingly bizarre behaviour and alleged drug abuse.

In the past few weeks Mr Sheen has appeared on radio and television indulging in rants about colleagues, including one where he sneered at his Jewish producer “Chaim Levine”.

At another point Mr Sheen, the son of devoutly Catholic actor Martin Sheen, claimed he had Jewish roots.

In a letter to Mr Sheen, Warner Bros Television said he was being fired for committing “felony offenses involving moral turpitude” which had interfered with his ability to “fully and completely render all material services.

Mr Sheen was the highest paid television actor in the United States, while Two and a Half Men regularly achieved top viewing figures. But he told gossip website TMZ that losing his job was “very good news”.
