Brittany Murphy’s husband to quit LA

articlemain

The British husband of actress Brittany Murphy will be moving out of their £5 million Hollywood home after being left out of her will - which he says was his choice.

Ms Murphy, the star of Clueless died last year of pneumonia at the Los Angeles home she shared with Simon Monjack, 39, and her mother, Sharon.

This week it was revealed that she had left all of her assets, including her house, to her mother. She and Mr Monjack are now expected to relocate to New York and share custody of Brittany's Maltese puppy, Clara.

Mrs Murphy said: "It was just too painful to stay in LA for both of us without her. The conditions of them being married were that he didn't benefit from her in life or death. He wanted that. Even if I wasn't in the will, he would have insisted I had it all.

"I don't know what I would have done without him. He is a magnificent man and made my daughter so happy."

Mr Monjack said that his faith was the "only thing that helps" and said he is respecting 11 months of kaddish.

"Religion is so important to me," he said. "I put on tefillin every morning. Most days I can't even leave the house except for when I go to shul.

"We were very observant. She was drawn to Judaism and even went to the mikveh before our wedding."

Following the actress's death, rumours of drugs and eating disorders began to circulate, as well as stories about Mr Monjack's past.

"Every tabloid piece is very hurtful," he said. "But when a 32-year-old beautiful girl dies there has to be a villain - and that's usually the husband."
