Britney Spears to star in Holocaust film

articlemain

Of all the women you might pick to star in a sensitive film about the Holocaust, Britney Spears is unlikely to top the list. But the controversial singer, whose private life is frequently all over the tabloids, is rumoured to have been offered the leading role in a new Holocaust film.

Reports in the US suggest she will appear in The Yellow Star of Sophia and Eton, which may start filming in North America later this year.

Britney’s character, Sophia, builds a time machine and travels back to the Second World War, where she meets Eton, a Jewish prisoner of a death camp.

The couple fall in love and use the device to travel back to the present day, but, in the most improbable denoument, are killed by Nazis before they can marry.

Britney’s attempts to launch a career on the big screen faltered after her last film, 2002 comedy-drama Crossroads, flopped at box offices worldwide.

Last year she was rumoured to be in a relationship with her Israeli bodyguard, Tzuri Lee Adeto. She was also romantically linked with Jewish music producer Jonathan “JR” Rotem.

The singer once studied at the Kabbalah Centre in Los Angeles after being introduced to it by friend Madonna.

But in 2006 she ended her involvement, writing on her website: “I no longer study Kabbalah, my baby is my religion.”
