Beckhams ‘to send son to LA Jewish nursery'

articlemain

David and Victoria Beckham are reportedly planning to send their youngest son, Cruz, to the top Jewish nursery in Los Angeles, attached to a Reform synagogue, the Stephen S Wise Temple.

But Sheryl Cohen, director of the private Early Childhood Centre at the synagogue, was tight-lipped on the issue: “No comment,” she told the JC.

Glen Lehrman, the Beckhams’ spokesman, was equally non-committal: “I cannot comment on the Beckham children.”

The Temple is one of the biggest in the city, with a 3,000-strong congregation, and six rabbis to minister to their spiritual welfare.

Reports this week suggested that Mrs Beckham spent three-and-a-half hours looking round the nursery’s facilities, and the former Manchester United star, who now plays for LA Galaxy, spent the whole day there. The Early Childhood Centre offers “playdates” for parents who are considering enrolling their offspring.

Although David Beckham has referred to himself as “half Jewish”, it is unclear whether Goldenballs ever encountered a mohel. His maternal grandfather, Joseph West, was Jewish and Beckham said in his autobiography: “I used to wear the skull-caps...and I also went along to some Jewish weddings with my grandfather.”
