The front door of Barcelona’s largest synagogue was defaced with the slogan “Free Palestine” last week.

One local journalist said the community was “in shock” at the attack which reportedly took place on Wednesday.

The words were sprayed in red on the front of the Synagogue of the Jewish Community of Barcelona, which was opened 75 years ago. So far there is no indication of who was responsible.

Jaume Padros, president of the Official College of Physicians of Barcelona, commented on Twitter, “Confusing a synagogue with the state of Israel reflects a racist mentality.”
