Aaron Sorkin on board to write Steve Jobs biopic

articlemain

Aaron Sorkin is to tell the story of Apple's tumultuous rise to the top in a new film about Steve Jobs.

The screenwriter, who has previously taken on the internal politics of the Oval Office and the creation of Facebook, will write the script for a biopic about Apple founder Steve Jobs.

Mr Jobs, who died last year from cancer, co-founded the company with Steve Wozniak but was later forced out. After leading Pixar to success, he returned to Apple and oversaw its rise to market leader, with inventions including the iPod, iPhone and iPad.

Mr Sorkin's role was announced by Sony Pictures. He will be writing a script based on Walter Issacson's biography of Mr Jobs.

His story was described as "unique" by Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal. "There is no writer working in Hollywood today who is more capable of capturing such an extraordinary life for the screen than Aaron Sorkin.

"Iin his hands, we're confident that the film will be everything that Jobs himself was: captivating, entertaining, and polarising."

Mr Sorkin's new television series, Newsroom, is set to air later this year.
