The political strategist appointed by Joe Biden as his new Jewish outreach director has said he expects President Donald Trump to “push a fabrication” that the former vice president is anti-Israel.

Aaron Keyak has been confirmed as having landed  the electoral campaign post to “build and manage a national outreach programme to support the political objectives of the campaign”.

Writing earlier this year, Mr Keyak said Mr Biden “has long been a staunch friend of the Jewish community, from his steadfast backing of the State of Israel to his intransigence in the face of antisemitism and hate crimes.

“Down the line, a Biden administration can be trusted to deliver on the issues that are most important to us as Americans and members of the Jewish community.”

But speaking to Haaretz this week he added that President Trump was likely to target Jewish voters ahead of November’s election with the charge that Mr Biden is anti-Israel.

Mr Keyak insisted that it had been the current US President who had proved to be dangerous for Israel.

During the 2012 presidential election Mr Keyak headed the campaign media “Hub”, a rapid-response research and media outreach team that promoted president Barack Obama’s message on foreign policy issues and issues regarding Jewish community.
