Young cartoonist Zoom enjoys super success

articlemain

Jewish cartoonists may have created Spiderman, the Hulk, and Superman, but the latest cartoonist making a splash is JCoSS pupil Zoom Rockman, 11, creator of hand-drawn comic The Zoom.

It has won international acclaim, and the fifth edition will have a special launch at the London International Comics Festival next week.

Zoom, from Crouch End, north London, began drawing aged eight. In summer 2010, he won a trip to the Bucheon International Comic Festival in South Korea and received an international children's cartoonist award.

The format of The Zoom has a lot in common with comics such as The Beano.

Zoom said: "There's lots of different characters ...there's 'The Nutters- they're unteachable' who are a bit like the Bash Street Kids. Alfie's Alien is about an alien that lands in a boy's ear."
