X Factor judges save Katie Waissel

Jewish X Factor hopeful Katie Waissel has survived another week of the competition.

It was a near miss for the 24-year-old from Pinner, after she was placed in the bottom three during the first live show of the series. The singer failed to attract voters with her version of Queen’s We are the Champions.

The theme of this week’s competition was number one chart hits.

Dressed in a Lady Gaga style outfit, with a colourful warrior helmet X Factor judge Louis Walsh told her: “You are all style and no substance.”

Danni Minogue added: “I don’t get tonight’s look.”

Ms Waissel was joined in the bottom three by Nicolo Festa, who sang Bad Romance and the group FYD, who sang Travie McCoy’s Billionaire.

Both acts were voted off the show, while Ms Waissel sang The Beatles’ classic Don’t let me Down and managed to stay for another week.

The judges chose Ms Waissel over FYD, and Simon Cowell said: “I don’t know why you didn’t sing like that last night.”

Ms Waissel wrote on Twitter after the show: "I'm actually lost for words. Thank you everyone for your love and support.

"You have all been beyond wonderful."
