Woman hospitalised after new year car theft

articlemain

A Jewish woman from Hendon was attacked by four men on her way home from a Rosh Hashanah meal.

The 57-year-old was left with a bruised thigh and cut on her knee after thieves broke into her home and stole her car.

She and her family returned just before midnight on Thursday to find the men in the process of stealing the car, which had been parked in her driveway.

The woman attempted to stop the burglary by standing in front of the car, but the men knocked her down and drove off.

Two of the men who were not in the car ran off by foot. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

The car, a metallic blue Saab 93 convertible, has not been recovered.

DC Wand of the Barnet Acquisitive Crime unit said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim and shows a callous disregard for the safety of others.

“I would urge anyone who has any knowledge of the crime or the stolen Saab to contact Barnet police.”
