West London memorial for "lost babies"

articlemain

West London Synagogue will host a memorial service for the "lost babies" buried in unmarked graves in Hoop Lane Cemetery, with parents prevented from knowing their location.

A JC investigation found that during the 1960s and 70s, parents of stillborn babies and early death infants, were regularly misinformed as to where the children were buried.

Rabbi Julia Neuberger will lead a service at the cemetery on December 11. A marble plaque will be erected, reading: "In loving and cherished memory of the children who were buried, with no memorial stone, in unknown graves. They are always in their parents' and families' hearts. It was a loss to all that they did not grow."
