‘Watch your back. You’ll get burnt’

The British National Party’s legal adviser is claiming that he has received death threats after the JC exposed his views on various Jewish communal bodies and on the JC itself — which he described as “racist”.

Lee Barnes, writing his blog, had criticised Searchlight magazine and the Board of Deputies, and accused the JC of “funding terrorism” following its support for a campaign to stop the BNP making gains in the May 1 elections.

Last week, the JC reported these comments, along with the news of the resignation of a senior BNP candidate.

This week, Mr Barnes posted a new blog in response. After conceding that it was “a fair… article”, he added: “The Jewish Chronicle is a racist organisation. It demands that the only people in Britain who should be prohibited from organising to protect and represent their community interests… are the indigenous British people.”

In response, one commentator on his blog wrote: “You had better watch your back… You are playing with fire and you WILL get burnt, that’s a promise.”

Another described Mr Barnes as “Nazi scum” and said he would “pay the ultimate price”. Another comment on the blog said: “Go and meet real men in the CST any day and you will be drinking soup through a straw for the rest of your natural.”

Mr Barnes described the CST as “the Zionist version of C18 [neo-Nazi group]” asking: “As such, why are the Met Police working with the CST? The fact that various Zionist Nazis seem to think the CST is a terrorist group is grounds for its ban.”

Mr Barnes said this week: “I don’t know if the threat is really from the CST or from someone using their name but if people have the perception that the CST is a military wing, then that is quite alarming.”

Noting that he would be reporting the comments on his blog to police, he said: “I am fearful as there is a history of our people being attacked, so the threats are quite serious. A couple of years ago I received threats from al-Qaida. I have also had threats from left extremists and now from those using the name of the CST and Israel.”
