articlemain

Four of the country's leading six comprehensives are Jewish, according to the new Sunday Times Schools Guide.

JFS was ranked the second top non-selective - and in 79th place for state secondaries (including grammars): followed by King David High School, Manchester, third (83 in the paper's overall state school list), Yavneh College fifth (95) and Hasmonean High School sixth (99). Immanuel College was among the top 100 independent secondary schools, ranked 90.

London's Akiva School was the highest-placed Jewish primary state school, in fifth place, in England.

Other top 100 entries were King David, Manchester, 11, and North Cheshire Jewish Primary, 23.
