Katie Waissel has sailed through to the next round of the X Factor live shows.

Ms. Waissel was the first to be put through on Sunday’s results show after her performance of Etta James’ I Would Rather Go Blind.

X Factor judge, Danni said: “No one can deny that you sang with every bit of effort that you had.”

She added: “I didn’t like your performance last Saturday.

“I like your performance when it is stripped back and you’ve still got your personality”.

Simon Cowell told the Jewish singer, from Pinner in north London: “There’s something that I really like about you.

“There’s a rawness, there’s an authenticity.”

Louis Walsh added that he wanted people to give Ms Waissel another chance and judge her on her talent.

Ms. Waissel looked pleased and said: “Thank you, Thank you very much.”

On the Xtra Factor, her father Maurice Waissel commented: “She has shown that she has never given up.”
