An MP's aide has called it "sickening" to see a swastika was graffitied within the parliamentary estate.

Oliver Denton Lieberman, who works for Labour MP Tulip Siddiq, posted a photo of the symbol that was etched on the wall of a lift in the Norman Shaw North building, near the Palace of Westminster where MPs have offices .

"Unbelievably but true," he wrote. "Someone has scratched a swastika into the door of our lift in Parliament. Nazi graffiti in the Mother of Parliaments.

"A sickening act."

Mr Lieberman added he had reported it to the police.
