'Scary' Katie Waissel clings on to X Factor place

articlemain

It was another tense week of X Factor for Jewish hopeful Katie Waissel, as she had to sing for survival for a second time this series.

She failed to win over fans after her rendition of Ella Fitzgerald’s Bewitched on Saturday night’s Halloween themed show.

Her witch outfit, with large back-combed hair and white false eyelashes, was unpopular. Dannii Minogue told her: “The makeup was a little bit scary tonight.

“It was distracting from your singing.”

Simon Cowell: “I’ve always said you are like a singing scarecrow and you have definitely taken that theme on board tonight.”

Ms Waissel was placed in the bottom two acts, singing against girl group Belle Amie.

Bare footed and fighting back tears, she performed Etta James’ Trust In Me to stay in the competition.

The judges couldn’t decide who to save, so it was left to the act with the most public votes and she stayed in.
