articlemain

Labour’s London mayor candidate Sadiq Khan has pledged to make tackling antisemitism a key priority for the police if he is elected.

Launching his manifesto on Wednesday morning, Mr Khan said he would stand up to prejudice and hatred.

Rising incidences of Jew-hate in the capital were a concern, he said.

In the manifesto Mr Khan explained: “I know only too well what it feels like to be discriminated against just because of your background.

“I will always stand up for London’s Jewish community and against prejudice and hatred.

“My Manifesto for all Londoners will make tackling antisemitism a top priority for the Metropolitan Police.”

He said the capital must be a “beacon” of tolerance.
