The Shomrim volunteer security group is appealing for eyewitnesses after an incident in which antisemitic abuse was directed at shul-goers.

According to the group, on Monday afternoon at 2.50pm, a car pulled up outside a synagogue in Hendon, north-west London, where a celebration had just taken place.

The driver of the vehicle, described as a white man in his mid-to-late twenties, allegedly shouted “F*** Jewish [sic], f*** Jewish, Heil Hitler”, as well as performing Nazi salutes, at people emerging from the shul.

There was at least one other person in the car, with reports suggesting they joined in.

Police are investigating

Gary Ost, chief executive of the Shomrim in north-west London, described the incident as "shocking and disgusting".

He added: “The Charedi (strictly Orthodox) communities in north-west London and Stamford Hill are subject to antisemitic attacks on a daily basis as they are the most visible section of the Jewish Community in London."

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Monday morning, vehicles were vandalised opposite the entrance of a Jewish girls’ school in Stamford Hill, north-east London. Vans were defaced with swastikas, along with the words “f*** off”. Police are investigating the incident.
