Officers investigating the death of a 98-year-old Jewish Second World War veteran – who suffered fatal injuries during an attack in his home – have released CCTV images in a renewed appeal to find his attackers.

Peter Gouldstone was found with a head injury and extensive bruising to his body on November 6 at his home in Evesham Road, in Bounds Green, North London.

He died in hospital three-and-a-half weeks later, after suffering two bleeds on the brain.

Four months on, detectives have appealed for information on an attempted burglary on a nearby street which took place at 8.25pm on November 5 – the same night Mr Gouldstone’s home was broken into.

Newly-released CCTV images show two men entering the back garden of a property, before looking through windows and attempting to open doors.

The men eventually left the scene.

A £10,000 reward has also been posted for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Detective Inspector Alison Cole said: “We believe there were at least three men involved in this attempted burglary and we are very keen to speak to them.

“We are appealing for anyone who thinks they may know these individuals to get in touch with any information, no matter how small.

“Mr Gouldstone tragically died following a senseless attack in his own home and we are doing all we can to help his family get the justice they deserve.”

Officers also urged members of the public to come forward if offered a 26-inch Panasonic television – model TX – L26X10 – which was stolen from Mr Gouldstone’s home.

Information can be reported to police on 101, quoting reference 2140/6NOV, or by calling the Metropolitan Police’s Incident Room on 0208 345 3715.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via the charity’s non-traceable online form.
