New venues for UK Jewish Film Festival

articlemain

Organisers of the UK Jewish Film Festival (UKJFF) have released a list of new venues that will host the event this November.

Films for the 18th festival will now be screened at more than 15 venues, after the Tricycle Theatre’s boycott forced organisers to make alternative arrangements.

Today, the UKJFF confirmed that new venues for 2014 are: Bafta in central London, the Curzon Mayfair, the London Jewish Cultural Centre in Golders Green, the Odeon in Muswell Hill, and the Everyman in Hampstead. Venues outside London will be Cineworld in Didsbury, Manchester, CCA in Glasgow, Seven Arts, Leeds and MAZCC, Leeds.

Other venues which will screen festival films include Arthouse Crouch End, the Barbican, BFI Southbank, Cine Lumiere, Everyman in Hampstead and Maida Vale, JW3, Odeon Swiss Cottage, Phoenix, East Finchley, all in London, and the Cornerhouse in Manchester and Broadway in Nottingham.

This month, the Tricycle Theatre, in north London, backtracked on its decision to boycott the festival unless it ditched its £1,400 sponsorship from the Israeli embassy.

In a joint statement, the Tricycle and UKJFF said they had “agreed to work together to rebuild their relationship and although the festival is not about to return in 2014, we hope to begin the process of rebuilding trust and confidence with a view to holding events in the future”.
