Massive Attack urge fans to buy Palestine song

articlemain

Massive Attack have directed the attention of their fans to anti-Israel causes for the second time.

The British duo used their Facebook page to publicise a song about Israeli "injustice" and human rights abuses.

They posted the link to OneWorld's 'Freedom for Palestine' single and said they believed the project engaged with "a lot of the important issues."

The song is endorsed by groups including the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Jews for Justice for Palestinians and the Stop the War Coalition.

Massive Attack said that although "the last thing Palestine needs is a pop song", the project was important because "elected leaders in the UK, EU and USA have chosen to do nothing or very little to end the disastrous political, economic and social isolation of the Palestinians- which, in a year of revolutionary change in the Arab world, is truly disappointing and dangerous."

The song was also publicised by the British band Coldplay earlier this month, drawing criticism from thousands of fans.

Massive Attack's comments also provoked ire.

It comes nearly a year after Massive Attack used a performance at the Big Chill festival to attack Israel with slogans about Israeli wealth against the Palestinian economy.
