Man fined for New Year antisemitic abuse

articlemain

A 20-year-old Romanian has been fined after he shouted antisemitic abuse at two revellers and spat at police officers in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Two Jewish men alerted police after they were shouted at outside The Refectory pub in Finchley Road, Golders Green, at 3.15 am on January 1.

When officers arrived they found a group of men involved in a scuffle. Two ran away but the third, Daniel Cader, was arrested. While being detained he spat at the police and paramedics.

Cader, of Edgware, north west London, was later identified as the man who had shouted the antisemitic abuse.

He appeared at Brent Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting a police officer.

He was ordered to pay a total of £285 in fines and costs with one day in custody deemed served for the first assault. For the second attack he was sentenced to a £200 fine but this was waived due to the day served in custody.
