Jewish star joins Strictly Come Dancing

articlemain

Actress Felicity Kendal has been named as one of 14 celebrities competing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Ms Kendal, who converted to Judaism after marrying theatre director Michael Rudman, is perhaps best known for her three year stint as Barbara in The Good Life.

She has since starred in television drama Rosemary & Thyme and recently appeared on stage in the George Bernard Shaw play Mrs Warren’s Profession.

Earlier this year she revealed that her dream dinner guest was Israel’s former female prime minister, Golda Meir.

Ms Kendal, 63, will not be the first Jewish celebrity to put on her dancing shoes. Singer Rachel Stevens was a runner up in 2008, while Natasha Kaplinsky and Esther Rantzen have also appeared on the show.
