ITV could make you all stars

ITV is searching for Jewish families in Manchester to star in a television documentary about levels of religious observance in the community.

Although filming is not due to start until February or March, on Thursday some preliminary footage was shot at Manchester Jewish Museum, following Holocaust survivor Jack Aisenberg.

But producer Chris Malone said the focus would be more on a "celebration" of Jewish families and their events.

He said: "We are hoping to find three families from a broad spectrum of religious observance.

"Our programme is solely focused on the Jewish community in Manchester since it's the second biggest in the country. The production is also coming out of Granada, so Manchester is our home base really."

Mr Malone has been responsible for a number of documentaries for ITV including following Poirot star David Suchet, explaining some of the behind-the-scenes real-life dramas on the Orient Express.

The ITV show is the second documentary to focus on the Manchester community after Channel 4's BAFTA-nominated The Family began researching Jewish families for its next series.
