Israel "to be blamed" for Dubai passport cloning

David Miliband will tell Parliament that Britain blames Israel for Dubai assassination.

Israel's embassy in London is poised to hear whether one of its senior diplomats is to be expelled by Britain, as punishment for Israel's alleged involvement in the Dubai assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud Mabhouh in January.

Reports in today's Daily Telegraph say that Ambassador Ron Prosor was summoned to the Foreign Office yesterday and told that Britain formally blames Israel for the cloning of up to 15 British passports during the Dubai operation.

A ministerial statement is due in the House of Commons later today.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband was due to have been the guest of honour at today's rededication of the Israeli embassy building after two years of renovation.

Dubai police claim they are 99 per cent certain the murder of Mr Mabhouh was the work of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, and now say they have DNA evidence from the assassins.

The team in Dubai is believed to have used as many as 26 fake passports. They apparently used a quick-acting muscle relaxant to help make the death seem "natural".
