A Labour councillor suspended last May after calling for Jews in Israel to “relocate” to America has reportedly been readmitted to the party.

Ilyas Aziz, a Nottingham councillor and a vocal supporter of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, was suspended by the party after the Guido Fawkes website published an exposé of some of his Facebook posts.

In July 2014 Mr Aziz wrote:

“Jews and Muslims lived together in the Middle East in peace pre 1948.

“Perhaps it would have been wiser to create Israel in America. It is big enough. They could relocate even now.”

In another post, Mr Aziz compared Israelis to Nazis; he also shared posts talking about the “Rothschild’s” control over David Cameron and about “drinking Gaza blood.”

However, in a tweet on December 31, Councillor Aziz wrote:

“A VERY HAPPY 2017. Can resume my Labour Party activities now that my suspension lifted. Thanks to all who stood by me in difficult times.”

A Labour spokeswoman responded to an enquiry by saying "We do not comment on the membership status of individuals".
